Our pioneering ‘Teach Hurst’ Teacher Training programme is fully-funded and includes sponsorship of PGCE and Early Career Teachers (ECT) training, a starting salary of £25,000 per annum, increasing regularly as you progress through the programme. Plus free on-site accommodation and free meals.
We are looking for well-qualified graduates/undergraduates, across a variety of subject areas, to become part of our 2023 programme.
One key to our success as a school is excellent staff and Hurst College has always made a point of recruiting and training individuals who have the potential to become outstanding teachers. We value all our teachers and whether you join us straight from university, or after an initial career in another area of work, we believe every teacher’s experience and background are important. Most of all we are interested in candidates with enthusiasm and the drive to become brilliant teachers.
Our programme consists of:
Year 1 Building classroom experience, knowledge and pedagogy through observation and class teaching on a reduced timetable
Year 2 A fully funded, in-school, PGCE course provided by Sussex University. Increased teaching load and further responsibility
Year 3 Early Career Teacher (ECT), greater autonomy, 10% reduction in teaching load
Year 4 Early Career Teacher (ECT), 5% reduction in teaching load
Throughout this time we offer close and supportive mentorship and a CPD programme.
