Gymnastics Coach

We are recruiting a gymnastics coach to join our established coaching team. Term time only (+ INSET), with hours required before and/or after school on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday across Gym Club, Gym Development Club, and Gym Squad.

Our Gym Coaches support and develop our gymnastics programme via our Gym Club, Gym Development Club and Gym Squad for our pupils in Year 3 to Year 6. Our gymnastics provision is extremely well attended, and fosters a love of gymnastics and the potential to succeed in multiple disciplines at regional and national competitions. Our gym coaches should be professional, enthusiastic and responsible. They should also be prepared to be flexible with their working pattern to accompany our pupils to external gymnastics tournaments and competitions during the year.

Key Responsibilities

  • To coach gymnastics across a range of age groups (7yrs – 11yrs) and abilities
  • To set out the equipment at the beginning of each session, ensure it’s safety before each use
  • To be aware and adhere to risk assessments and health and safety guidance
  • To act as a support coach, supporting our lead coach prior, during and after lessons and events


  • British Gymnastics Coaching Level 2 or equivalent


  • The ability to lead, inspire, motivate and support pupils and colleagues
  • Superb communication skills
  • Demonstrate training success with young people
  • Up to date knowledge of successful and innovative teaching within a gymnastics background and the latest curriculum developments and initiatives.

Support for School:

  • Ensure effective working relationships with colleagues and parents;
  • Contribute to the maintenance of pupils’ safety and security;
  • Translate school policies into practice;
  • Review and develop sound professional practice;
  • Recognise confidentiality, child protection procedures, Health and Safety, and the policies of the United Learning, Local Governing Body and the LA where appropriate;
  • Provide general and basic welfare and first aid support to a pupil, if trained to and/or nominated to do so;
  • Respond to physical and emotional needs of pupils appropriately making reports in line with school policy;
  • To be deployed across all areas/departments of the school as requested
