We are seeking to recruit a Gap Year student to join our established team in January 2023. The role is term time only (+ INSET), with flexible hours depending on availability (20-37.5 hours).
Gap Students are seen as an important part of school life, they are key to supporting to the pastoral and academic departments. They are expected to help with various activities during the school day. Gap students should be professional, enthusiastic and responsible. They should also be prepared to be flexible and to help with the running of the school in numerous ways. Experience of working with children would be an advantage but support and all necessary training will be given.
Support for Pupils:
Supporting pupils, individually or in small groups;
Support the use of equipment as a tool to enable learning;
Assist with using a variety of classroom materials/equipment;
Assist with special activities in the school within and outside school hours (eg. sports days, performances, concerts, open days etc.);
Accompany pupils on school visits;
Supervise pupils at meal times as required;
Supervise and purposefully engage pupils at break times and other out of lesson activities;
Assisting different academic departments with duties including:
Assisting in sport in years 3 – 6, including fixtures against other schools;
Classroom support, working alongside the teacher in the classroom;
Break time supervision duty;
Assisting with school events or trips (including residential trips away from school);
Assisting with after school events including Parents’ Evenings and Performances where necessary;
Administrative support for the school staff including:
Assisting with the preparation for displays;
Assisting with morning and afternoon Registration;
Support for School:
ensure effective working relationships with colleagues and parents;
contribute to the maintenance of pupils’ safety and security;
translate school policies into practice;
review and develop sound professional practice;
recognise confidentiality, child protection procedures, Health and Safety, and the policies of the United Learning, Local Governing Body and the LA where appropriate;
provide general and basic welfare and first aid support to a pupil, if trained to and/or nominated to do so;
respond to physical and emotional needs of pupils appropriately making reports in line with school policy;
to be deployed across all areas/departments of the school as requested;
During term time lunch will be provided lunch and refreshments free of charge in the school Dining Room.
Sports Uniform will be provided when assisting the Sports department

Experienced in working with children, in either a voluntary or paid basis.
Caring and enthusiastic.
Committed to creating a safe and happy learning environment.
Comfortable with technology (the School uses Office 365, including Teams and iSAMs).
Able to work independently – using their own initiative.
Organised and calm in busy situations.
Patient, with a sense of humour
