Founded in 1710 and now located in 24 acres of beautiful grounds in Hampton, Lady Eleanor Holles is one of the oldest and most distinguished girls’ schools in the UK. Lady Eleanor Holles is a remarkable school, where pupils successfully combine impressive intellectual endeavour with enthusiastic engagement well beyond academics. Life at LEH is multi-faceted and vibrant, with girls empowered to become expert learners, unafraid to tackle new and challenging ideas. LEH lives by its motto “Hope Favours the Bold,” encompassing the school’s aim of enabling all pupils to be courageous, hopeful, optimistic, and determined in all that they do.
Lady Eleanor Holles currently educates around 1,000 pupils ages 7 to 18 in a happy, purposeful environment. Following the retirement of Heather Hanbury, LEH now seeks an outstanding educational leader to take up the role of Head from September 2023.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of achievement and innovation in school leadership as either a Head or Deputy. They will have considerable experience in successfully developing, implementing, and monitoring strategic plans in conjunction with Governors, as well as being able to manage human, financial, and physical resources. They will be a strong educationalist with an understanding of how to achieve excellence in teaching and learning and the gravitas to gain credibility with pupils, staff, Governors, and parents quickly. The successful candidate will be outward-looking and forward-thinking with a clear passion for girls’ education. They will have the demonstrable capacity to build warm, open, and honest relationships inside and outside the school community and will be a champion of and ambassador for LEH in the wider education sector.
