Development Executive


We seek to appoint an enthusiastic and energetic Development Executive who is keen to develop their skills in a diverse and challenging role. The Development Department raises funds for capital projects, bursary provision and other charitable causes. The ideal candidate will be a highly organised individual with some fundraising and events experience, or other relatable experience. A flexible and hands-on approach is essential, as the candidate will work closely with a number of teams including Marketing, Outreach, and Alumni Relations.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone keen to pursue a career in philanthropic fundraising. You will have full exposure to all aspects of development and will play a key part in delivering the new bursary programme for Francis Holland School, Sloane Square.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsibility for building relationships with existing and new community partners – schools, charities and businesses – seeking financial and volunteer support for the bursary programme through visits and presentations.
- To spread the news of our bursary programme to the wider market and implement strategies to encourage children from the maintained sector to apply to FHS.
- Responsibility for delivery of regular giving, alumni and legacy fundraising campaigns.
- Research new donors and fundraising streams (from current and past parents, alumni, corporate/local businesses) & manage pipelines.
- Identify and coordinate applications to trusts, foundations and livery companies for support of the bursary programme.
- Work closely with the Operations Team to deliver events for donors to the regular giving programme as well as events for benefactors and patrons.
- Promote the benefits of the Development function to past and present parents/alumni at school events.
- Send timely thank you letters for donations and update the CRM system Toucan Tech.
- Input incoming donations on the database and coordinate with the Accounts department.
- Manage Gift Aid applications and record individual donor and recognition details.
- Administer all outgoing fundraising communications to parents and alumni, including thank you letters for donations and stewardship reports.
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, ensuring coordination and balance with Outreach initiatives.
- Keep abreast of fundraising best practice at all times.
- Help prepare donor reports and gift agreements.
- Work with the Marketing team to ensure the development website and pages are up-to-date.
- Respond to parent enquiries (face-to-face, phone, email and online) in a timely manner.
- Other administrative tasks to be specified that are associated with the varied nature of this role.
Francis Holland School (Sloane Square) is an independent day school for girls aged 4 to 18.
